The Universe Project is more than just a collection of stories; it’s a chance for you to step into the expansive worlds of Dead or Alive, Ninja Gaiden, Nioh, and Fatal Frame to immerse yourself in the nuanced alternate history of Team NINJA’s lore.
Countless hours of dedicated research, fact checking, and deductive reasoning are being devoted to this ambitious attempt to unify Team NINJA’s plotlines into a deeply rewarding adventure for all fans of these beloved game franchises. It’s our hope that by offering you the chance to step into this world with us, it will bring the entire fanbase together and give all of us something to be excited about experiencing. Perhaps one day, we might even be lucky enough to cause the creators of these worlds to take notice, and in turn inspire them the way they have inspired us.

SECTION II – PREMISE
The year is 2016, and the world is a shattered mirror of its former self. The recent actions of the global mega-corporation known as DOATEC had brought about calamity and threatened mankind’s future through illegal scientific experiments and crimes against humanity. It has been two years since the destruction of the Tritower, DOATEC’s headquarters in North America, and news is spreading that Helena Douglas has reformed her father’s corporation into a new entity, seeking to make amends.
As an auditor working for the United Nations, it’s your job to investigate the past in order to determine if Helena Douglas’ claims of a reborn DOATEC are the truth, or just another layer of deception hiding insidious plots unfolding behind the scenes.
As you explore the Freedom Survivor, interact with DOATEC staff, and spend time studying the historical records gathered by DOATEC’s Intelligence Office, you might find yourself spiraling into a rabbit hole of grand conspiracies, fierce battles, tragic misfortunes, and alluring romances. The world waits with bated breath for the results of your investigation even as the fifth Dead or Alive World Combat Championship is being planned. So, what will you find, Auditor? Only time will tell.
WHO IS THE UNIVERSE PROJECT TEAM?
SECTION III – STAFF
It’s not a simple question to answer. Every member of our team has a unique background with Dead or Alive and how this game series has shaped our lives. Like many of you, we were drawn to Team NINJA’s games by its flashy graphics, fun gameplay elements, and interesting characters, but for us there was just a hole in our hearts that craved more than what we were seeing on the surface. It was this shared desire for deeper understanding that brought us together to begin work on a loose, text-based collaboration. We wanted to explore the potential that was hinted at in the games.
While in the beginning we were driven by pure passion and curiosity, our drive has since evolved into a full-scale expedition of the worlds Koei Tecmo and Team NINJA have created. To us, our love of these characters and their stories has ignited a spark in our hearts that refuses to be snuffed out. We write, draw, research, and create to continue to keep ‘Dead or Alive’ alive and kicking, because for us, it always has been. If you feel that same spark, then welcome.
